Dayspring Home

The Dayspring Home is located on the Poultry Farm in Chittur Village, 11 kilometers outside the town of Virudhunagar. The Dayspring Home was built in early 2007 through kind donations of Caritas Sweden. At present, we provide a home for 25 children, but this number fluctuates on a monthly basis.

Most children at the Dayspring Home have been outcast from the families due to HIV/AIDS-related stigmas. Either one or both of their parents have died from HIV/AIDS and their family and community members refuse to care for them, or their HIV/AIDS infected parents are unable to support their children due to social stigmas surrounding those infected.. Under these conditions, these children do not receive enough food, proper education or sufficient shelter. Through the home, they are given a stable location; they are offered nutritious meals, attend the local government school, and they are given the necessary care to help them develop into healthy human beings.

Since the creation of the Dayspring Home, we have opened our doors not only to HIV/AIDS orphaned children, but also to children who risked hunger and exploitation. This situation results from the struggles of single parents families to provide an adequate upbringing for their child.
